Welcome to Blessed Sacrament Church Msgr. Guerrera!
We welcome Monsignor Vittorio Guerrera as Pastor of Our Lady of Loreto Church and Blessed Sacrament Church.
Monsignor Guerrera is a native of Waterbury and attended St. Lucy Parochial School and Holy Cross High School. Following graduation from Quinnipiac University he entered Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, NY where he obtained his M.Div. degree.
He was ordained on January 12, 1991 at St. Joseph Cathedral in Hartford by Archbishop John F. Whealon. After several Parochial Vicar assignments, he pursued further studies in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University where he earned a licentiate in dogmatic theology.
Upon his return to the Archdiocese he became Parochial Vicar at St. Ann Church in Avon, and was also the Archdiocesan Director of Formation for the Permanent Diaconate program. In June 2003 he was assigned as attaché to the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations where he served as the personal secretary to the Apostolic Nuncio. During his tenure in New York, he occasionally celebrated Masses in our parishes on weekends.
In October 2009 he was named Chaplain of His Holiness with the title of “Monsignor” by Pope Benedict XVI. His previous assignment was Pastor of the newly established St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in the northwest corner of the Archdiocese.
Monsignor Guerrera is the author of three books: Medjugorje – A Closer Look; Let the Children Come to Me – Homilies for Children; The Shroud of Turin – A Case for Authenticity.
Welcome to Blessed Sacrament Church. Blessed Sacrament is a Catholic parish located in the west end of Waterbury on Robbins Street. Bishop John J. Nilan established the parish on May 7, 1911. Since that time Blessed Sacrament has served the spiritual needs of the area and been a vibrant community of faith.
As a family of faith we strive to be a welcoming, joy-filled community of Christ that finds our meaning and purpose in the Eucharist and the Sacramental life of the Church. The Eucharistic Presence of Christ unites us together as one family of faith. It is the Eucharist that gives us our joy, our strength, and our purpose.
We invite you to join us for worship and to become an active member of the parish to help us carry on the mission of Jesus Christ and the Church in the west end of Waterbury. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly by phone or email. Thank you for visiting our site, and we hope you will be inspired to join us on this journey as we fulfill our call to be missionary disciples of the Lord!
