Blessed Sacrament Church holds Mass honoring local first responders

August 2, 2021
Blessed Sacrament Church in Waterbury held a special Mass of Thanksgiving recently and invited representatives from the Waterbury Police Department, fire department (Bunker Hill and Town Plot fire houses), Waterbury Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital to receive awards that were purchased by the parishioners of Blessed Sacrament as a thank you for their selfless service to the community, especially during the pandemic.
During Lent, the parishioners participated in a Lenten Giving Cup where they would forego their morning coffee purchase, or other small sacrifice, and instead put that change/money in the giving cup. The money collected from their small sacrifices during Lent went to purchasing the awards for the first responders.
The award was an acrylic cross and dove which read, “We are thankful and blessed for the strength, service, and sacrifice you have shown serving the greater good despite the risks during COVID-19. May God continue to bless you and the work you do in our community,   Your friends at Blessed Sacrament Church.”

Wearing masks at church is optional for those who are vaccinated.  If you are NOT vaccinated, please continue to wear masks.

Welcome to Blessed Sacrament Church.  Blessed Sacrament is a Catholic parish located in the west end of Waterbury on Robbins Street.  Bishop John J. Nilan established the parish on May 7, 1911.  Since that time Blessed Sacrament has served the spiritual needs of the area and been a vibrant community of faith.

As a family of faith we strive to be a welcoming, joy-filled community of Christ that finds our meaning and purpose in the Eucharist and the Sacramental life of the Church. The Eucharistic Presence of Christ unites us together as one family of faith. It is the Eucharist that gives us our joy, our strength, and our purpose.

We invite you to join us for worship and to become an active member of the parish to help us carry on the mission of Jesus Christ and the Church in the west end of Waterbury.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly by phone or email.  Thank you for visiting our site, and we hope you will be inspired to join us on this journey as we fulfill our call to be missionary disciples of the Lord!
